Chicago Women in Publishing (CWIP) Educational Event: Manuscript Editing

Join Chicago Women in Publishing on January 18 for the nonprofit’s first educational event of the calendar year. Led by CWIP’s current president and vice president, the program will delve into a topic vital to the publishing industry: manuscript editing.

Editing has tremendous impact on a book’s quality and marketability. With the ultimate goal of helping the author create a compelling, top-notch book that appeals to the target audience, a good editor is invisible in the end product. If you are an editor or author who wants to learn more about the different types of manuscript editing and the differences between developmental editing for fiction versus nonfiction manuscripts, then this CWIP educational event is for you.

Past CWIP president and copy editor Kim Bookless will explain the various types of editing and the importance of a good author-editor relationship. Current CWIP President Jill Welsh, a developmental editor and writing coach, will discuss nonfiction and fiction manuscript evaluations, as well as developmental editing, and focus on those elements unique to each form.

When:

Wednesday, January 18 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

The evening will begin with networking at 5:30 p.m. in the Library, continue with the main presentation at 6:30 p.m., and conclude with a Q&A. Informal networking, called CWIP AFTER DARK, follows the educational portion of the program.
