Spread the word that the 2017 IWPA High School Communications is on!
Entries are being accepted from female and male students of all public and private high schools in Illinois. This annual competition honors and celebrates student journalists and their schools’ communications programs. First-place winners also go on to compete in the national high school competition hosted by the National Federation of Press Women.
There are 23 categories for writing, design, photography and illustrations. Categories include:
- News: Print and Online
- Broadcast: Web, Video, TV and Radio
- Yearbooks
The deadline is February 21. Entries are $10 each, and students can enter as many categories as they wish. The high school with the most first-place winners also receives the IWPA’s Silver Pen Award and a prize of $100.
Direct high school students and communication advisors to the website of the National Federation of Press Women. It contains all the information needed to enter the 2017 IWPA High School Communications Contest and the portal to submit entries in the contest. Also tell them to watch for updates on IWPA.org and to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Participating at the state and national level makes a notable accomplishment to include on college and job applications.
